May 31, 2012

Five months have past since I started this project and I think that I am going re-focus.  There are times when taking a picture each day is a piece of cake and other days it is very difficult.

Thus, I am going to continue to post pictures each day, but they may not be from the current day, such as this one that I took when Linda and I drove to Berry College in Rome, GA.  I heard about this water wheel and wanted to take pictures of it.

Obviously, this one has been 'photoshopped,' which has a pen and ink effect.

I took a picture on this road, which is the entrance to Fowler Park in Cumming, GA, but from the other direction and unlike that picture, this picture is done with HDR processing.  The previous picture looks as a photo should while this one looks more as a painting.

May 29, 2012

We brought home some small shells and pearly white sand from Destin and Linda could not wait to decorate with them.  It is difficult to see the white sand in the center of the the plate, but it is there.

May 28, 2012

A number of friends went to the Memorial Day program in Roswell, GA today.  We get there early to secure seats in the shade and spend time together.  This is one big flag hung on City Hall.

May 29, 2012

Today is Memorial Day; a day of remembering all who served, especially those who gave the ultimate in the giving of their lives, and the loved ones left behind.  It matters not weather one served in peacetime or in times of conflict.  Thank You!

It took this picture at Marietta Nazarene Church almost two years ago at a service remembering those who stood up in so many ways for their fellow Americans.  Today, I added the appropriate text.

May 28, 2012

I was sitting on the sofa enjoying this piece on the mantle that Linda purchased at a furniture store.  I told her how much I liked it and decided to take a picture of it.  I moved it for the picture and set up a light that illuminated the background (wall).  They call this 'back-lighting.'  It removed the shadows from the other lights in the room.

Vacations are a great way to get away from everything, but the yard work is always there when one comes home.  I have to admit that the first thing that I noticed was that the grass was in desperate need of mowing; however, it was over-shadowed be the flowering plants and bushes.

Here are pictures of three of the four Hydrangeas in our yard.

Here is an interesting picture.  Is the footprint a 'relief' or an 'impression?'  Or, is it an 'optical illusion?'  Click once on the picture to enlarge it.

Good Morning! and this is Good Bye for this time.  A most enjoyable week.

May 24, 2012

Good morning!  I took this picture this morning while sitting on a beach chair under an umbrella.  I added the text to make it look as a postcard.

May 24, 2012

Yesterday turned into a fine day, a lot of sun.  Last evening, we went to Seaside, which is about 20 miles east of Destin and stopped at Destin Commons on the way back.  The Commons have it all over Seaside.  We have been to Seaside a couple of times before, but it seems to have changed; more like a carnival than an upscale shopping adventure.

These pictures are of the Destin Commons.  It is a classy shopping area.

May 23, 2012

This is a panorama of the dunes between Destin and Ft. Walton, Florida.  The sand look like snow on a bright day.

REMINDER:  Due to many posts, click on the "OLDER POSTS" tab below.

May 23, 2012

I did this photo with HDR processing, which is three photos at different exposures, combines, and manipulated with the HDR software, Photomatix Pro 4.

May 23, 2012

Good morning and guess what?  They do have some days that are not perfect, but that just creates other opportunities; as Linda says, shopping... or as Ray says, ... yes, dear!

When we were in a store yesterday, Linda said, let's go, Ray, and a man standing next to us said, 'Ok!"  I think that he was wondering why he never heard those words.

May 23, 2012

Here are a few more pictures from the Air Force Armament Museum.  I plan to eventually put all the pictures on a disk.

May 22, 2012

Went back to the Harbor Walk this evening but on the other side of the water to take this picture.  I did some post processing due to the low lighting.

May 22, 2012

After eating  breakfast at the "Another Broken Egg," we went to Harbor Walk, which is, of all things, down at the harbor.  Basic tourist trappings, although interesting and some interesting views.

May 22, 2012

Good morning, again, from Destin, Florida.  The boardwalk to the beach is less than 100 steps from our hotel room door.  I took a second picture today of the sand to the horizon to include the surf breaking.

+++ NOTE +++  Remember to click once on a picture to enlarge it and click on the "Older Posts" tab at the bottom of the pictures to see previous photos.

Here is the the B-52 bomber and the picture does not do justice as to the size of this plane.

May 22, 2012

Here are some pictures from yesterday's visit the the Air Force Armament Museum and a tribute to David Ceraso, who flew one of the planes on display while serving in Vietnam.  It is the O-2, which is described in one of the photos.

On the lighter side, which is not to diminish anyone who served our country, one will notice that there is propeller in the front, where one would expect, but there is also a propeller in the rear...  I am trying to figure out if the drivers of this rig did not know how to turn it around or if they did not know if they were coming or going.

I will be asking David about this design, which undoubtedly has a purpose.

May 21, 2012

Here are the bombs of which I previously mentioned.  What surprised me about the Bunker-Buster is that it appears to be about 10-12" in diameter in the front end and is about 12 feet long.  I seem to remember hearing about a 2000 pound Bunker Buster Bomb, but it must either be a different bomb or it is this bomb that produces 2000 pound of something.

The Fat Man bomb does not look like what I would think a nuclear bomb would look like, but what do I know...

May 21, 2012

Here is a Palm plant that has an unusual center.  I have seen a similar plant with a center shaped as a sphere.  Why would one plant have a round center and another a cone shaped center?

May 21, 2012

I went to the Air Force Armament Museum at Eglin Air Force Base this morning.  It was fascinating: B-52, B-17, SA17 Blackbird, and the OS-2, which my friend, David Ceraso, flew in Vietnam.

I saw a "Bunker-Buster bomb and a Fat Man bomb, both of which were not what I expected.  I will post pictures as I have time to process them.

But first...

May 20, 2012

Only one picture from Florida today.  I missed the most magnificent sunset this evening but will try tomorrow.  We had finish dinner and leaving the restaurant the sky was ablaze.  It took too long to get to a place for a picture.

This flower was outside the hotel.

May 19, 2012

These pictures were take across the bay in Destin, Florida next to Eglin AF Base.

I am not sure what kind of bird this is in the first two pictures.

I believe that this one is a blue Heron.

How about Woody, the Red-Headed Woodpecker.

Here, a fish is jumping out of the water...and then
                        landing below.

                                 Silhouette and sunset.
